Get in touch

Tell us about the project.

It starts with a conversation. Call (248) 258-9453, or write below; we’ll call back within a business day.

There’s no formula here. Tell us what you’re thinking about. A few photos, a rough plan, or an idea on a napkin is plenty. Share a few details, or call us directly; either way, we’d be glad to talk.

A note on fit: every project is different, and so is every client. We take fit seriously, on both sides, and the only way to know if we’re right for each other is to talk.

We reply within one business day.

What happens next

What happens when you reach out.

No pressure, no pitch. Here’s exactly how a first conversation unfolds. Your first call is with Dave Engel, who runs the firm day to day. Dave on LinkedIn →

01

A conversation

We start by listening. Tell us what you’re considering, by phone or in person. A real conversation about what’s possible, and no obligation.

02

A visit

When it makes sense, we walk the site or the existing home with you, get the full picture, and talk candidly about scope, timing, and what the work will take.

03

A plan

We put together a clear plan and an honest number. Then you decide, on your own timeline, whether we’re the right partner for the work.

“We interviewed four builders. Mosher Dolan wasn’t the cheapest bid we got, and they weren’t promising the fastest timeline. What they were honest about was where the real costs were, where we could pull back without regretting it, and where we shouldn’t. Two years in, that’s the part we appreciate most — they told us the truth, and the house reflects it.”
Mike — Bloomfield Hills, MI
“Our youngest was four when we moved in. She’s eleven now. The house still works the way they said it would, and they still pick up the phone when we have a question. That wasn’t something I thought about when we were choosing a builder. Now I’d put it near the top of the list.”
Jennifer — Birmingham, MI
“Mid-build we got a price increase from a supplier, the kind of surprise you dread. Our PM had three alternatives priced and on the table within 48 hours, including one we ended up liking better than what we’d originally picked. No padding, no drama.”
Sarah — Detroit, MI
“This was the second home we’ve built with Doyle and the team. The first one, ten years ago, told us everything we needed to know about how they work, and the way it’s held up since told us the rest. We’ve sent two friends their way.”
Andrew — Birmingham, MI
“We changed the kitchen layout about a month into the build. Every builder we’d talked with would have made that a paperwork ordeal. Doyle’s crew made it a conversation: re-estimated, told us what we’d give up, and then made it happen. Fair warning, though: they will absolutely have opinions about your lighting layout.”
Linda — Birmingham, MI
“Our whole-floor renovation ran over the holidays: eleven trades in and out, three rounds of late selections, two pauses on our side. By all rights it should have been chaos. It wasn’t. Whoever was on the schedule that week knew exactly what came next. That kind of coordination is the thing you only notice when it’s done well.”
John — Orchard Lake, MI
“Building a custom home is a hundred decisions, made in the wrong order, with imperfect information. What I’ll always remember about Todd is that he was the calmest person in the room whenever a decision got complicated. That kind of presence is rare on a job site, and it’s exactly what you want when you’re spending a year of your life on this.”
Dan — Franklin, MI

On discretion

Your project stays yours.

Discretion is part of the work. We don’t post in-progress photos without permission or identify our clients, our architects, or the trades we work alongside. The relationships are private by design. The work is what’s public, and the work speaks.

Before you call

Questions we hear, before we hear them.

All the questions, answered →

How much does a custom home cost?
More than you might think; less than you fear. The honest answer requires a conversation about the site, the program, the level of finish, and how you actually want to live. We won’t quote a number we can’t defend.
How long does it take?
Sixteen to twenty-four months for most new builds; less for renovations. Design and planning happen before that, and the time spent there is what keeps the build itself calm.
Do I need an architect?
You can come to us with one already, or we can help you find the right one. Either works. We collaborate regularly with the best architects in Metro Detroit, and a few in New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles as well. How we work with architects →
Can you do smaller projects?
Sometimes. The question for us is fit, not size. If the work is the kind we can do justice to, we’d like to talk about it.
What is the first conversation actually like?
Bring what you have: a few photos, a rough plan, or an idea on a napkin. We listen first. By the end of it, you’ll know whether we’re the right partner for what you have in mind. So will we.
