Modern in the Trees

Birmingham · New home · Steel, glass, and dark cladding

The Wall Street Journal, June 2025 · “His Nonnegotiables: A $1 Million Whiskey Wall and Somewhere to Park His Porsches”

A new house in Birmingham: dark volumes that open through floor-to-ceiling glass to the trees around it, with a kitchen built to the same exacting standard, a whiskey room, and a lighting system tuned to every room and every hour.

The owner knew exactly what he wanted, down to the absence of a single handle or hinge, and the architects drew it precisely. Our job was to build it that precisely. Every joint between steel, glass, and wood is on show, so every one had to be right. The Wall Street Journal told the story in June 2025.
