Where we build
Custom home builder in Birmingham, Michigan.
Mosher Dolan was founded in Birmingham in 1979 and has built, renovated, and restored homes across the city ever since. Our office on North Main Street in Royal Oak is ten minutes from downtown; our receiving yard on Nakota is closer still.
Building here
Working in conversation with the city.
Birmingham has strong opinions about how it looks, and it should. Lot coverage, setbacks, height, how a new house sits beside the older ones on its street: every one of them is reviewed, and the review is only slow for people who are learning it as they go.
We have been building and renovating here since 1979. We know the ordinances, the boards, and the people behind them, and we design to pass the first time. That does not make the process short. It makes it predictable, which is what you actually want from it.
New homes
Ground-up houses on established streets, whether the lot is empty or an older house is coming down. Traditional, transitional, or modern, designed with your architect to belong on the street and to clear the city’s review the first time.
Renovations & additions
Whole-house renovations, kitchens and primary suites, additions that match the original so closely you cannot find the seam, and the surprises that come with century-old houses, handled calmly.
Restoration
Older homes across the region, with the most significant of them in Bloomfield Hills and Detroit, brought back with the plaster, masonry, and millwork done the way they were done the first time, by trades who still know how.

Design partners
With Birmingham’s architects and designers.
We work with the architects and interior designers most active in the city, the firms whose work shapes the streets Birmingham is known for, and with out-of-town firms in New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles on second homes and family houses here.
